Coronation Street actor Roy Barraclough has died. The Lancashire-born star was also known for his partnership with Les Dawson, especially their portrayal of duo Cissie and Ada. His agent said he died on Thursday, after a short illness.

I just don't know. He's still the local Tory golden boy down there from all accounts, and he definitely wanted back in to Parliament. Who knows? Not open to contenders just now anyway.

It’s not a given that JRM would stand. Problem he has is he’s adamant on not leaving the Tories. His personal vote share vs Reform vote share would let Labour back in, so I’m inclined to say he might sit it out.
