Peter Vaughan, 93…. Dead!

The star, best known for his roles as Maester Aemon on Game of Thrones and Grouty in Porridge, has died aged 93. Vaughan described himself as a character actor, saying he did not have the looks to play romantic leads.

Winter Olympic Deaths 23rd December 2025
Sivert Bakken, Norwegian biathlonist, dead at 27. Didn't actually compete at the Olympics, but he surely would've done so in 2026 (and I didn't know where else to put this). Quite a shocking death - he did have a history of heart disease, but he was still an active competitor (last raced 4 days ago).
